The small-lot closing problem
Contract tube processors, bicycle, fitness and furniture plants and special-machine builders often run a few hundred pieces per order, and the next order wants a different radius. On a hydraulic closing machine the shape lives in the tooling: a set per shape, a changeover per order, and on small lots the tooling costs more than the job.
Put the shape in the program
On the TD-382 the forming rollers ride on a servo cross slide; radius, flat, hole and compound profiles are program parameters. One program per customer and part number, recalled when the order comes in; only a change of tube OD needs a collet and jaw change. A new customer’s drawing can be trial-closed as soon as the program is written, with no wait for tooling.

How many programs can it hold?
Stored by part number; the count is not a practical limit for a normal plant.
